It seems so many on here just call each other "limp-wristed liberal twats" or "uneducated, heartless conservatives" or something to that effect.

Whatever happened to the respect of opinion and intelligent discourse?

It also seems our government is guilty of this...

Because most people think Freedom of Speech means they can say whatever they want, but others aren't allowed that same freedom.

Because both parties lose sight of their humanity and take it into an all-out slug fest. People on both sides are most certainly guilty of doing this, but on this particular forum.. Conservatives seem to do it far more often. Almost all the time, the questions I see are "Why are liberals so stupid!?" or "Why do liberals hate America?" It's the same stupidity over and over again.

i've got continuously concept marriage in recent times is slightly old. it incredibly is an employer from the bronze age of humanity and hasn't been as much as date, even nevertheless our strategies of society and morality have. it incredibly is an incredibly romantic and idealized concept yet with tragedy geared up into it in evaluation to the fact of human psychology. instead of "until ultimately loss of existence do us section", why no longer base marriage on a contractual foundation, say 2 years. each 2 years, marriages would desire to be renewed; if human beings do no longer opt for to stay married, they do no longer renew. it is not romantic however the divorce fee might probable just about drop, alongside with an significant volume of infidelity. Spousal abuse would desire to even drop some too.

I try to follow that policy myself I don;t lock step with either party line.. althogh i bend more to the right on moral and social issues.

What i think some of it is is a more uninformed or misinformed populace.. when one can;t come up with a valid argument or defence, it drops into name calling, perhaps out of anger for being bested

laziness. it's so much easier to just hate and run away than stay and talk it out.

i do think intelligent discourse still occurs . . . quite frequently, actually.

i also think the media is a little to blame. Discourse takes time, and the media works in sound bytes.

Unfortunately that wonderful quote seems to be lost on many conservatives on this forum. I have never, ever, reported anyone despite the incessant abuse and insults I get to my questions. However, I have lost 2 accounts recently. This is my third Humanist account.

Now tell me, are conservatives that insecure that the truth threatens them?

It's unfortunate to say the least. Let's hope we can bounce back from this mind frame and get back to serious issues.
