add a few drops of bleach, it will keep mold and junk from growing in the water. It will also make your flowers last longer.

Hi,
Adding bleach and sugar will not help.
Some of the best practices are :
a) Cut 0.5cm of stem alternate day (the bottom portion of the stem decays and causes the water stink). Cutting the stem also will make the flower to look fresh.
b) Make water bid acidic by adding half spoon of citra or 7up.
BTW, adding sugar will make the flower bloom very fast and the vase life will also come down.
Another alternative instead of water use Floral Foam which can be bought from nearest florist. It comes in various shapes or you can cut a brick to fill your vase. It can absorb sufficient water and keep it for long time. You will not have stinking problem with this.

Change it every two or three days, do not let any foliage below the water line, and add a bit of flower food and a drop of bleach to the water.

Trim the leaves from bottoms of the stems. The leaves should not touch the water. Put a couple of tablespoons of sugar in the water and change it every other day.

Put a tablespoon or two of bleach in the water. Not too much more, or you run the risk of harming the bloom.
