I was thinking the over day that the series is full of faults. Like at the beggining of curse of the black pearl one of the black pearls crew get ashes tipped on his head and he starts screaming in pain but later in the movie barbossa says they cant feel pain. And also if the curse was stopped in the first movie how come the monkey keeps the curse?

Did you watch the very last scene at the end of POTC1 after the credits? It shows the monkey stealing a coin back out of the chest.

POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl grow to be a a techniques stronger action picture(plot). POTC 2: ineffective guy's Chest, many of the appearing and almost all the plot grow to be not very sturdy. Johnny Depp and Keira Knightly did super jobs however the script wasn't very sturdy.

If you watch the first movie, after the credits, they show the chest again. Jack, the monkey, walks up to it and takes a coin out, thus starting the curse again. So it's not a continuation of the same curse, it's the curse begun anew.

At the end of the credits, the monkey Jack steals another coin out of the treasure chest. So he is now yet again under the curse.

A BRILLIANT question, and I see two brilliant answers... the damned monkey steals a coin and therefore retains the curse !
I was thinking that same question when I watched POTC 2 just the other day... and popped in the POTC DVD seeking the answer.
You got me on the pain issue though...
