You don't want to use any kind of oil or petroleum based product on your plants. The best thing to use on the leaves of a plant is milk, if you take a small amount of milk and dab a cloth in it then you wipe the leaves. This will give the leaves a shine and they can still breath, and you won't get as much dust on them as before.

No because although the rubber plant would smell great, it would not be able to breathe properly after you do this. You can, however, use mayonnaise diluted in a 1:4 solution with water. One part mayo, four parts water. Just soak a terry or micrifiber cloth and clean away!

You can use a spray that you buy at a grocery store that is for to make the leaves shiny. I take mine and put it in the shower and spray lightly to get the leaves clean and it removes the dust.
Be careful when using any oil and make sure it does not get on the back side of the leaves!!

No, you'll clog the stomata (breathing pores). If you just keep it clean (periodically, put it in the shower and spray with warm water), it should be attractive enough. Not only that, but the baby oil will attract and show dust, and you'll be a slave to keeping THAT clean. If you want abnormally shiny plants, get the artificial kind.

Yes, but ONLY on the top surface. Don't ever shine the bottom surface of any sort of leaf. The stoma are there, and if they are clogged, the plant can't get the air it needs, or expell excess oxygen and water.

No! My RHS encyclopedia says to clean leaves regularly with a little warm milk.
