I'm Italian living in an English speaking country, and want an Italian name that is relatively easy for English speakers to pronounce. My first son is Giovanni, but many people mispronounce this by saying G I OV ANNI, even though I tell them how to say it, so do you think Stefano is nice, and easy to say?? If I have a girl she shall be Lucia (proun. Lucheea).

Yes Paula, Giovanni is pronounced Jovani - easy I thought, for English speakers.

I like the name Stefano its a very nice name, its different and bold.. I have heard of the name before and its very easy to pronounce.
My hubby is Spanish and Italian and our son's name is Giovanni as well he's 11 months old, and when I take him to the doctors for a check up they always call him my daughter.. or can't pronounce Giovanni right and it drives me crazy...I cant stand it... I'm from NJ and there everyone would understand it.. but I'm renting a home in NC and in the south I guess they are slow here or something I don't know.. anyway good luck :)

When naming your baby, always consider that it is the child who will be stuck with the name. Your sentimental considerations are purely secondary. I teach high school and a lot of students oftentimes are "held back" emotionally and even academically when their classmates make fun of them simply because of an "unusual or funny sounding name -- only to the majority of other students".

So, if you are going to continually live in an English speaking country, I suggest that you give your child two names -the first one which is not hard to pronounce,or something that there is only one way to say it or English sounding, and the second one - Stefano. See, Stefano can be Ste - fano, or Stefa -no. Or maybe another.

Growing up, your child with two first names will now have a choice of name that makes him comfortable and confident. If your son or daughter is strong enough to parry the "jokes", then he or she will be very confident being called Stefano or Lucia instead of the English sounding name. Of course, he or she will always be Stefano or Lucia to you.

while i first noticed your query, within the information feed, i did not consider i favored Stefano very a lot.. however I desired to look what different men and women had stated approximately it. But till I learn the caption.... Stefano (or probably, Stephano) Murrillo... Sounds quite first-class! So, now I find it irresistible!

Aww, you shouldn't consider different names just because they're easier to pronounce. Who cares if people get angry or cannot pronounce it. Names don't even really matter, its the person. But yes Stefano is a nice name!

How about my name, Mario. I'm from Italian parents and I loved this name growing in America. It was very unique and it is easy to pronounce. Everyone knows that it is an Italian name and I love that since I am very proud of being Italian. See if that works for you. Ciao!

I think stefano is a wonderful name for a baby boy, but the name lucia will probably be mispronounced a lot because us americans will say loosee-a. but good luck with that!!!

It's a cool, cool name - from reading above, I think women love this name - and guys - well, they may just be a little bit jealous of a handsome guy named Stefano!!! LOL.

I like both names. Stefano looks relatively easy to pronounce, though I'd be torn between saying "Ste-FAN-o" or "STEFF-ano".

Lucia is a really pretty name, but you'd have to tell me how to pronounce it first, or I might be tempted to say "Lucy-ah".
