"12/08/06 "Lew Rockwell" --- I'm sick and tired of this patriotic, nationalistic and fascist crap. I stood through a memorial service today for a young Marine that was killed in Iraq back in April. During this memorial a number of people spoke about the guy and about his sacrifice for the country. How do you justify 'sacrificing' your life for a war which is not only illegal, but is being prosecuted to the extent where the only thing keeping us there is one man's power, and his ego. A recent Marine Corps intelligence report that was leaked said that the war in the al-Anbar province is unwinnable. It said that there was nothing we could do to win the hearts and minds, or the military operations in that area. So I wonder, why are we still there? Democracy is not forced upon people at gunpoint. It's the result of forward thinking individuals who take the initiative and risks to give their fellow countrymen a..."

IF this was writen by a marine, then it just goes to show that the democrats are wrong, and the military is made up of a diverse people.
Anyone who thinks the US is anything like facist has no idea what the definition of facism really is.
I find it laughable, but getting old that people are using their right to free speach to complain about how they don't have a right to free speach and how overpowering the government is... grow up and get a reality check

Hes paid his dues and is entitled to his opinion. I recall myself in Viet Nam, I wrote to Nixon as a joke telling him here is your 2 weeks notice, I've had enough bs for a life time, that I would even provide my own way home, and that I would like a letter of reference. It was a joke but one of my buddies mailed it, and did I find out quickly that sh!t rolled down hill! I had my butt chewed out so many times by every one local in the chain of command and a couple of weks of burning drums of human waste, then a long stint in the bush, I learned never even aas a joke speak your mind to anyone whilest in the Marine Corps. So he will most likely
be speaking with his co his bat co , and god knows who else along the way

What do I think? I think the anti-war crowd ought to make him their poster child. I also think that based on my 55 years on this crazy spinning rock, I learned very early that there is an a** to fit every seat. I also think I learned that sometimes, you have to do difficult tasks in life and that sometimes one doesn't like them. At that point, what one does is decide if they want to quit or not.
I also learned that your source link is suspect at best in their beliefs. And I learned that well before today. I also think that people who undermine their country's efforts are standing on the edge of being considered treasonous.
Where in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Palestine are these "forward thinking people"? At the helm of their governments? No, they are not. When your leader is known to send orders to kidnap, murder and sometimes bury alive those who might even show a facial expression he might not like, who then will help? When that same leader is known to allow the raping of 8 year old female children by several of his thugs, who will help? When that leader is known to possess and freely use weapons of mass destruction (Sarin, Mustard Gas) on entire villages of people who don't worship as he does, who will help?
Not our business? Not our responsibility? Then answer, who will help when these same "leaders give the word to start attacking here in America? Who will help?

There is a pretty typical conservative response - if you don't like what you're hearing then it must not be true. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of answers like that.

I applaud this man for speaking the truth. Sadly, some of the froth at the mouth conservatives on here will call him a traitor, how pathetic.

That is the most whiney liberal fluff piece of crap writing that I have ever read. The person that wrote it should be cut up in tiny peices and then the peices should be shot. How unamerican can one person get.
