The oil light is an oil pressure light. No oil pressure, and your engine will have a catastrophic failure. That means it makes an ugly noise and doesn't work anymore.
There are many possible reasons this is happening. The most likely is that you do not have enough oil in the engine. Check the dipstick level, and add oil as needed.
Since you're having a problem with the light, check your oil every time you put in gas. If the engine is losing oil, you REALLY need to stay on top of it.

It could be just the oil pressure sensor. Don' t just ignore it. If the oil pressure really is low, it could really tear up the engine. Get it checked out by a mechanic right away. Dodge engines are really bad about sludging up, so use a good quality oil and change it often.

check the oil pressure and the oil level... also it is not uncommon to have the light come on on steep angles...

Sounds like your oil pressure is low, have it verified with a pressure gauge.

my guess is that you have a bad wiring connection that is causing this light to come on.
