I am working in Software Company as programmer. The reason I believe this boss is incompetent are following

His interpersonal skills are very low he always behaves in condescending way with others rather than respecting them.
He is micromanager. He assigns tasks which are parts of a job rather than assigning job and supervising overall performance and correction if it is required.

When he faces many problems he can’t respond to customers in priority

I could identify above in my boss. I am not sure if I take his position I will do the same or not but working under him and being forced to obey his orders tearing me apart. Does anybody have any suggestion?
If he continues this way he wills definitely causing to close office. I have some work in my hand if I selected for his position these work definitely would be perished. Give me you suggestions.

The way you will be feeling after you read my reply will tell you if you are indeed "better than" your co-worker.

1. Please improve on your "written" communication.
2. In "any" promotion, remember that YOU are not the one doing the evaluating, the promoting or the firing. Check your OWN performance against your supervisors' expectations.
3. Your present mindset indicates that the promotion was due, yes, your colleague.
4. A leader can take and rise above such setbacks.
5. Stop grumbling and comparing, total waste of time and energy.
6. FOCUS on your IMMEDIATE plans to IMPROVE yourself.
7. What do you measure yourself against? NOT your colleagues. ONLY YOURSELF. You should be able to write and express yourself better, and so on.
8. MOVE FORWARD... or be left behind.

While most may be tempted to believe that a character like this will hang themselves in time, given enough rope, people like this seldom get in trouble for their behavior. They get others in trouble, that is how they survive.

I would just start looking for a new job, stat.

Good luck.
