Not only are we heading for disaster, we have arrived. It's going to take many years to undo the damage this zealot has caused. President Nixon al least seen the writing on the wall & resigned. This President Bush sees the world in one way & one way only, protect the oil at any and all costs. The family's of our troops pay the cost, the Iraqi people pay the cost. Halliburton makes a profit off all the suffering. The disaster is here & now.

Unfortunately, the Constitution only states that the nation should not have an official state religion. However, the forefathers did not intend to have this meant only in namesake. They also meant that religion should not guide principles. If you do some research, you will find that many of them were deists, which is essentially as far from Christian as you can get while still believing in the Christian God. One could deduce from their beliefs that they did not want religion in government at all, not simply a lack of state-sponsored one.

America is supposed to be a republic, not a democracy. However, I think America is in much more serious trouble than the Neocon attack on the constitution and individual liberty.
America is deeply unpopular, is in economic trouble, has a critically weak dollar that's hit a record low, is in huge debt to a communist state that is becoming the next superpower (China), is seen as a human right abuser and has trapped its military power in a doomed war, waged on false Intel.
I see a total economic and political collapse within 2 years.

A separation in church and state does not mean we cannot have personal convictions. Did God tell Congress to vote for the war. It was approved by Congress and not a single man. That is the way it works in America.

I have to believe most people vote moderate.
When it became obvious that the Republican party was pushing too far right, the voters went to the Democrats.
If the Democrats align themselves with the moderates, then they will server a few terms. However, as history has shown they will soon start up with gay rights, gun control, and other policies that will offend the moderates.
Then the Republicans will be voted back. It's all checks and balances, yin and yang.

Try reading the Constitution. Nowhere does it say "seperation of Church & State". It DOES say "equal protection under the law without regard to race, color, CREED.... A born again Christian has just as much right as anyone to run for & be elected to office.

I said it years ago.
It is not good having born again Christian in the White House.
"Born again" indicates baggage.
I think Dubyas baggage is that he is nuts and reads himself into the book of Revelations.
But the Republican Majority is lost,Rumsfeld is gone, and Cheney is under a rock somewhere tallying up his cut of the war profits.
Finally....even his fellow Republicans are starting to turn on him.

Not just in the US, so many third world corrupt countries who never respected human rights and were always under pressure from the US, now they will never listen to the USA as the human rights record of the US in Guantanamo, Abu Ghreib...is the worst in the world. Countries like Egypt, Saudi with a very bad records can now criticise the US if one day it blames them for any torture or prisoning of innocent civilians.
