My boss once called me trash. What did he mean?

It means he has no respect for you. Think about what Trash represents (or dirt or garbage or ****). Basically it means you're worthless and disposable. I would def. bring that up as an issue with someone in charge it's not only an insult , its wrong for someone in charge to use those kind of terms with their employees. Or look for a new job.

I have been a boss and I would never call a employee trash. To do this is just not right. I would not even call my ex wife trash even though the evidence would indicate that.
First of all does he do this in front of other people. Fellow employees or customers? If he/she does then I would not hesitate to tell your boss that you will NOT tolerate this abuse. If he tells you this in private then you must document each time he/she does this incident. Abuse is abuse and calling names only adds fuel to the fire. If you allow this abuse to continue it will only get worse and you will only suffer in the long run. You boss sounds like a bully and bullies are cowards. Keep your dignity and do not allow this type of abuse to continue. Just don't stoop to your bosses level and show him/her you are the better person.

It means that he does not like you. He looks down on you as if you were a used napkin lying in the street that had been run over by trucks.
You might want to get a new job.
