As a single gal in NYC -- what are some good group activities to meet people?

I don't have any friends here in the city -- and I don't work with people my age. Any suggestion on how to meet people and make friends? thanks...

You sound like you just moved there from someplace else. It's been my experience that some activities are still universal.
Look up a local (or Professional) theater company. The theater draws people from the broadest backgrounds, intellect, age and experience. You don't have to be a performer or artist. Theater companies can use volunteers unlimited.
Churches use to be a good bet but nowadays . . . . I would only look for where Jesus is Worshiped (The Brooklyn Tabernacle, even from where I live in the Midwest, manifests a lot of spirit.)
Neutral public buildings like museums or libraries are always full of people wanting to broaden their horizons. Good luck

There are plenty of coffee shops, night clubs, book stores, etc. Take a class of some type that you are interested in and that you know men your age would attend. Good Luck to you.
