if it's just one thing about them, just face it and go there. Pretend they're in their underwear or something (I'm not joking, it works really well). If you can't do that, you can always check if the store's part of a chain and go to the other places

This situation has a lot of potential for FUN! It sounds like the store clerks intimidate you because either they are scary and unfriendly, or you don't feel so hot about yourself. That, or you are afraid they will look down on you (I know all of these feelings).
Here's some ways to turn your fear into educational entertainment.
1) Apply eyeliner liberally, wear black, super edgy clothes, and practice having a superior, cold, unfeeling attitude. You should keep your chin up in the air, give people icy glares, and NEVER smile. Walk into the store and watch the sales people crap their pants because they're so intimidated by YOU instead of the other way around.
2) Become a celebrity!!! (This will only be believable if you have a relatively slim body, clear skin, and a shapely face.) Put on a pair of supertight, dark wash skinny jeans and a big, baggy t-shirt, an immensly large leather purse, lots of long chain necklaces, and some perfume. Wear HUGE, dark sunglasses and a scarf around your head. Get 6 or 7 of your friends to be "paparazzi" and take pictures of you and follow you and constantly follow you around asking for interviews. Rush into the shop and seek out an employee in a rushed, secretive manner. Explain in whispering voices that you need a ________ (whatever you need) as quickly as possible. They will think you're famous and rush to your aid, which will be very entertaining for you!
3) You could always bring a bunch of friends for moral support, they would be less likely to focus on just you.
4) Snag a pair of crutches and pretend to have a broken ankle. No store clerk, however nasty and obnoxious, is going to make fun of an invalid. Chances are that they will feel bad for you and go out of their way to help.
5) If the store has a website, just order clothes from there. You won't have to deal with any nasty salespeople.
6) If you're up for it, dress up in a crazy costume. This way you will be expecting them to laugh at you, so if and when they do it won't come as such a shock because seriously, who can blame them for finding your outfit funny?
7) Just be yourself and hope for the best. Smile at them and know that you deserve to be treated with respect and if they don't give you that, it's their loss.
Hope you have fun with this! Remember, there's always a way to turn an unpleasant situation into an exciting game.

I had the same feeling about a store, but found that the sales people were very kind when I finally got the courage to go in.
If you know that they will treat you like crap, then before going in get into a snob mindset. Pretend you have money to burn and that this store sells trinkets, and that they would be privileged to make the sale. :)

Remember, they work for you. WHy be intimidated, clerks in a store are somewhere below maids, and carwash attendents.

Just gather up the courage!!!!! I mean come on!!! Even if you do something stupid or ask a dumb question, it isnt like they are going to remeber you over everyone else, the store probably has about 100 customers or more daily! Good luck!

go anyhow!! the customer is always right. and don't let them make you feel that you aren't good enough to shop there because they work for commision off of the money you are going to spend. pick the nicest one there and allow her/him to help you and give the others the cold shoulder. when your done, play like julia roberts in pretty woman, hold your bags up high and say "big mistake, big" and dont forget to hold your head high when browsing.
