Take a CAD class and you can work with a design firm as a draftsman. Talk with a couple of A&E firms in your area and see whic CAD software they are using. Draftsmen can freelance and own their own business.

With a power specialty you can work at any power utility company, compamies that design and build generators, or perhaps power supplies. How about nuclear power plants if you have been trained for that. If your training included motor design, then you can work for companies that produce electric motors. Also power distribution systems design require your kind of training. So there are a lot of opportunities for employment for you.
