Is it just me or is Notre Dame ridiculously overated, seriously, what have they done that is even close to impressive, let alone even mediocre? Do they really deserve to be in a BCS bowl? I know all about the contract, but c'mon Notre Dame should be ashamed!

Perhaps they are overrated, but your presentation of this question deals more with your dislike of Notre Dame. It's kind of bias to just pick on them.

Why not ask why a team like Boise State is in the BCS?

Sure, they are 12-0, but do you know that they have not even so much as played a ranked team the entire season? All 12 games were against UNRANKED teams. Does that make them worthy because they can beat unranked teams - why don't they play top 15 teams...or top 10 teams....or top 5 teams.

At least Notre Dame has wins over UCLA (who beat USC) and Georgia Tech. Also their only losses came to 2 top five teams.

Notre Dame is very over-rated and a team that should have been in the BCS bowls didn't make it (the University of Wisconsin) who only surfered one loss and it was to Michigan (and their game was much closer that the blow out Notre Dame suffered the hands of Michigan as well as USC. Notre Dame gets alot of votes because of its reputation. Wisconsin was robbed!!!

You guys make it sound like ND is the only school in the nation that gets special treatment. Give me a freakin break. All the Florida teams always get votes even when they suck. There are plenty of teams that get this treatment. It is because over the years the writers and voters are taught that only these certain teams are worth anything. It is passed from generation to generation. It will never change. The BCS is **** and unless they have a playoff system nothing is going to change. Teams like the Irish and all the others will get the votes.

I dont agree. 10-2 is 10-2. You dont go 10-2 against todays college competition even if they have a lighter schedule.
I think they are a solid 10-2 team via a good qb and excellent coaching.
however - they are not an elite team. and until Charlie can win a big game they will not be considered a BCS team.
Remember - if hey had beaten ohio st or michigan you would not be asking.

Notre Dame gets veiwers and that is why. Once they lose Quinn there will be nothing left in that program. They will start the year ranked but will fall out a few weeks after.

No, they really are not overrated. Yes, it is very simple to think this. Just look at their schedule this year; Army, Air Force, Stanford, UCLA, Mich. State. just to name a few. All of these teams-unranked. But they did manage to beat them. And UCLA isn't half bad considering they beat USC. But look at the ranked teams ND did play, Michigan and USC. Both were ranked 2nd at one point. They didn't play teams ranked 10th or 12th or 8th, they either played great teams or not-so-good teams. Of course they beat the not-so-good ones, and it's not too surprising they lost to the great ones. Their schedule was overall black and white. This is not ND's fault. It does not make them overrated, and they do deserve a BCS bowl. You will see this when they beat LSU.

Yes you are.

Just kidding. That was my first reaction as a die-hard ND fan and alumnus. However, I think our schedule was a little weak as opposed to the big teams we played and LOST to.

Do we deserve a BCS bowl? Probably not, but because of our history, we get one anyway. BUT, I think that unless we create some new history and start playing and WINNING against some solid teams, then the BCS is not going to grant us these gifts for much longer.

ND relies on it's reputation and the losers it plays. I doubt they would fare well in a Conference, hence, their independent status. Probably what they figure also.
