I have alot of jeans like that from stores like abercrombie and other places, but I've always wanted to do my own pair like that for fun. are the holes manually ripped then someone sews the thread on and around the hole, or are they only ripped to a certain point? Also, how are certain parts dyed? I'm not only interested in what they use, but how exactly to do both of those. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ha, I ripped my jeans ripped last year at school and I was playing with the whole for about 6 hours. It looked authentic. So I don't think that they sew threads to them. The dirt part, just rub the jeans in some dirt and let them sit. After that wash them with cold water and you should ba all set!
