The term "New Economy" refers to the types of companies and industries that have come being as a result of computers and the Internet. Such companies did not exist 30 years ago, say (or they were just getting started then, like Apple and Microsoft). There's some leeway in how the term is used, but ANY company that is focused on Internet technology or services is certainly a New Economy company. Examples, Amazon.com., Yahoo, Google, eBay, Cisco,
