Having been a young adult (Teens and 20's) in the 1960's I recall feeling that the policies of the New Deal were a ringing success. Of course, like other young adults, I didn't spend a great deal of time considering questions like this, still I knew that I was the direct beneficiary of Programs put into place by the Democrats in the 1930's.
Not being a banker's or CEO's son, My family directly benefitted and was a part of the rekindling of hope in America.
This is what the Republican Party has STILL failed to grasp---they stick to the incredible philosophy that what's good for big business is good for everyone, and that wealth will "trickle down" to the underclass. RUBBISH!!

It was a rousing success. Kept business from running amok. It was the main reason we DIDN'T have a depression after WW2.
