Does anyone have the XBOX 360?

Question

I want to get it for my boyfriend for Christmas but I want to make sure that it plays the games from his old XBOX. So my question is can you play your old games on the new XBOX 360? If so, What games? Are there particular games, only? Is there a particular xbox 360 console you have to get? Please, any and all information will help.

yes it does play XBOX games but only some. it is called backwards compatibilaty. a link with all of the games is here.

I saw something on the web site that the previous two responses cited that got my attention right away (This is copied directly from that web site):

Original Xbox game support requires a hard disk drive (HDD) accessory on your Xbox 360 console.

That adds about $90 to the cost of the XBox 360 - The base model doesn't come with the hard drive. Yike. And of course, it's not a standard HDD, but a Microsoft XBox unique contraption.

there are only a limited amount of xbox games available to play on the 360 at the moment, you don't have to buy a certain xbox 360 just a normal one. here is the offical list of all the games you can play on the xbox 360.

i have a XBOX but i don't have it hooked up to XBOX Live so I can't update my Xbox so i can play old games. If you boyfriend hooks it up to XBOX live then he can play his old games. Without updating his XBOX he can still play HALO and HALO 2 though.

P.S. buy him GEARS OF WAR! its the best game EVER

I know for sure u can play halo and halo2 and u can get like this software thing that will let u play almost all of them or just ask gamestop or eb games!!!
