Formal linguistic environments: classical literature, uni and college staff rooms, the halls of academia, and such places, will have the correct usage of grammar as a given. Those hearing/reading this stuff will get the 'sound' of the language and automatically use the grammar rules effectively in their own speech patterns. Like breeds like.

Street language, pulp tabloids, bars/race tracks and places where the uneducated 'hang' will provide a milieu for 'colorful' usage and incorrect grammar. Those frequenting such places, those who have not been taught correctly, will imitate this usage of the language - communication WILL take place but at the expense of correctness of the grammar rules.

Keep your kids talking to those who use good grammar and they will speak with good grammar.

Good enough?? Eh matey?
