There are two things that may be happening. You may be either putting them in wrong or using those that are too big. I would try using tampons that are made for younger girls, the really small ones. If they still hurt, I would maybe wait a couple of years to try them again. When I first started getting my period, tampons hurt too much for me to use them, but a few years later, they were fine and I use them all the time now.

First let me say that I don't understand why anyone would listen to a man/boy about this unless they were a medical professional, because the men/boys that answered this question have absolutely no clue. Their answers are completely wrong.

Second, you do NOT need to go out and have sex. You are way too young, and your body is not prepared for that yet. Tampons have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you are a virgin. And sex does not make that area of your body any larger. It may stretch a little during sex, but it goes back to the original size afterwards. For those of you who think that pregnancy permanently stretches the vagina - wrong again. It goes back to its original size in the end as well (unless you have some particular problems that are not common).

Your body could be intolerent to tampons. I cannot wear them because no matter how small the tampon is, I start exhibiting signs of Toxic Shock Syndrome. TSS is a deadly problem that should not be taken lightly. Please read the tampon box for information on this. You very well could have the same problem.

Try using the smallest tampon there is, make sure you are inserting it correctly, and make sure that your symptoms are not those of Toxic Shock Syndrome. If you are still in pain, STOP using tampons and only use pads, and GO TO A GYNOCOLOGIST ASAP!! It could be a variety of problems. Ask your mom/stepmom/grandmother/older female friend/whoever to take you to her gynocologist, or find one that you like. If you don't have a mother-figure in your life, ask a female teacher that you trust or some other adult female in your life. Regardless, if you are inserting it correctly and using the smallest ones you can find and you are still in pain, you MUST see the doctor about it!

indexed under are some issues that would desire to be incorrect. I suffered from severe discomfort collectively as putting tampons for over a 12 months previously I discovered what replaced into incorrect. a million. you would be able to desire to be allergic to tampons. there are a number of chemical components in tampons and you would be able to desire to be gentle to them. 2. you continuously would desire to take a seat back whilst putting a tampon. in case you stressful up the tampon won't pass in exact and could be incredibly painful. 3. you have an infection of a few style (yeast an infection, bacterial an infection, etc) - this might make your pores and skin incredibly uncooked and would make it painful to insert tampons. 4. This replaced into my situation: i myself had ovarian cysts that have been being contaminated upon the insertion of tampons. I additionally observed that I had a super type of discomfort for the duration of intercourse to boot as abdomen and back discomfort. 5. One very final element that would desire to be incorrect is that in case you're utilising the incorrect length. attempt a smaller length, probable even narrow, and see if it makes a difference. ascertain you alter your tampon each 4 to six hours, and if the tampon isn't soaked then you definately would desire to pass right down to a small length. i'm hoping this helped. I nevertheless get discomfort on social gathering whilst utilising tampons if i do no longer insert them exact. good luck and if the discomfort maintains see a doctor.

It also may be because you have a shallow vagina. The length from the opening of mine to my cervix is actually more shallow than some women's. This makes it uncomfortable for me to try using tampons or the birth control nuva ring. I think if you're 13, you should go ahead and try to use pads, or see if there are shorter tampons for younger women. Talk to your mom or a doctor.

You may well not be inserting them properly. When done correctly, you shouldn't even know one is there.

OR it may be a sign of an issue that needs to be seen by a doctor. The instructions on the tampon box tell you how to properly insert them...if you are following those instructions exactly but it's still painful to use them, talk to your mom about taking you to a doctor to see if there's anything up in there that is causing your discomfort.

This will sound funny but at the time it was a real problem.. I could not understand why my friend complained that tampons always hurt her so bad so I asked if she was sure she was putting them in right.. I explained in detail to her and realized that she was putting them in wrong.. she was sticking cardboard (at the time) the whole thing inside her instead of pushing it thru the tube.... ouch !!!!
