I know and that is a hard thing to say...they have new classes of medications that they did not have years ago to treat specific kinds of depression...I had been depressed pretty much all my life and did not find the right meds until about 5 years ago...I think there is not the taboo there once was about meds and that is a good thing because if you had any other type of illness, would you not seek treatment?

Could be that medication has become more available, readily prescribed and socially acceptable. It seems to me that we are living in a society of quick fixes. At the same time I do believe that life has become more stressful to a lot of people.

It's the doctor's way of treating you without treating you. More women are on these medications. Doctor's don't like to take women's complaints seriously. Years ago if a women suffered from anxiety they gave them nerve pills. Lot's of visits makes doctor's lots of money and when you dope someone up enough they stop complaining and have the euphoric feeling that all is well.

It`s a little more stressful than it was years ago.
Think its just an easy way out approach.
I like dealing with my life without being medicated.

Unfortunately, i think it's easy to "think" you have depression. and when you go to a dr. the dr. cant tell u your not depressed. so the easiest thing for them to do is prescribe anti-depressants. life is more stressfull now than 10-20 years ago. we have so much more expectations in life now than we had some years ago. mostly i think it's because we bring it upon ourselves to be succesfull and have "nice things" in life. So we study harder, work harder etc.
