Are there noticable differences between the Intel Dual Core D Processor and the Intel Core 2 Duo?

Yes, there are specially in games. Core 2 duo is faster at less ghz. This means less power consumition and less heat, so they are easier to cool.

It will really depend on the specific two processors you choose, but the Core 2 Duo doesn't use as much power and therefor will be easier to cool. That in itself is good enough for me as it will require less of a cooler and therefor can make less noise.

The Core 2 Duo does more work per CPU cycle and also runs at a lower processor speed as opposed to shooitng for a 4GHz mark.
