He will try to sleep, I know he is really tired but he just wakes up about 10 minutes after he drifts off and screams uncontrollably. Nothing I do can calm him down. What do I need to do? I have tried different positions, rubbing his back, pacifier, singing.......etc. I changed him, fed him all that stuff. He has been like this for 2 days. He was so quiet when he first came home and so peaceful. He is 1 and a half weeks old, the first week was great, why the change now?

He may have gas. Try burping him and feel for some release in his stomach (his belly will be tight with gas) by draping him across your lap (belly down) and patting him on his back. If, he still seems uncomfortable, try a hot water bottle (wrapped in a thin towel) and put it next to his stomach in the crib. You should call your doctor, if, you decide to use gas drops (Milicon drops). Personally, I don't trust them for infants and many parents depend on them too much.

I hate to say it, but it's probably just colic. My 4 week old son has been going through the same thing. For about 2 weeks he was an absolute angel, and then 3 weeks hit and the screaming started. The only thing that works for my son is holding him, his pacifier and some music playing; sometimes all of that doesn't work, either.
I would try putting your baby in his car seat and see if that works. Then maybe try a vacuum or white noise machine or shush in his ear (not too loudly) or just walk around with him. I looked online for many different things to try. But remember that sometimes what usually works to calm your little one down won't work all the time.
And if you truly think something is wrong, don't hesitate to call your doctor!! YOU know your child better than anybody else and if you think something is wrong there's no shame in calling your doctor, even if they tell you "it's just colic" (once or twice or ten times).
Dealing with a screaming baby is hard, but you want to help him and that means you're doing a great job! Best of luck to you.

Are you breast feeding? I have a three month old and i experienced the same in the first 2-3 weeks but once I established my breastfeeding i did that exclusively. and she was fine and even sleeping well at night. You baby is trying to adjust to all the stimuli around him\her, that can irritate some babies.Put your baby to the breast and let him or her stay there for as long as he wants. That's what worked for me. With breast feeding you almost do not have to worry about colic at all. I was not goingto breast feed but when my baby screamed those nights. i reconsidered. If that doesn't work then see your doctor just to reassure yourself.

Colic doesn't usually start until about 10 weeks or so.
Babies cry and some cry more than others. If he appears to be uncomfortable or in pain then take him to the doctor. Otherwise just keep trying to find something that comforts him enough to sleep.
Lots of trial and error and you'll eventually find the right combination.

My niece had acid reflux, and she cried all the time. If he is only a week and a half old, I would take him to the doctor, because he should be sleeping all the time, it's early for colic.

It may be yes either colic or reflux. First try to give your baby a 4oz. bottle of Chammoile Tea and no it will not hurt your baby it is perfectly fine and helps prevent colic also. My daughter is 5 and has not even had a ear infection and I gave her a 4oz. bottle of this tea once a month since she was born. As for reflux switch formula to ProSobee and add a little rice ceral to it.

Seriously, I would take him in.
Addition: I came back as I was wondering if you are breastfeeding. If you added something to your diet that was not their the week of birth that could be a cause. My second son could not tolerate anything I ate that had tomatoe in it. Including spaghetti sauce. Just a thought

Could be colic or reflux. Is he eating OK? Is he having problems with bowel movements? i would have a doctor check him out just to make sure every thing is OK.

i recommend you get the ocean wonders musical aquarium crib attachment. it knocked my twins out in like 2 minutes.
depending on if he's over 3 months old, give him some rice cereal before bed, or you could add it to his formula just widen the nipple hole.

Swaddle him TIGHT with his arms straight at his sides. I used to wrap my daughter and sometines even tape the blanket. She slept so much better.
Miracle Blankets are the best swaddle blankets out there.
