We have, what I believe to be a big problem in America that needs to be addressed thouroughly. Many adult men are no longer initiating any sort of contact with younger people. Many are afraid and don't want to be accused of pedophilia. This witchhunt has been going on for about 5 years now and has divided the young and the old. I wanted to know how you think this wiil impact our society over the long haul? They say older people have lots to offer the young. I enjoyed talking with older people when I was young and learned many things from them. So, this paranoid mentality - is it detrimental to the health and longevity of such a so-called (USA) proud people? Whats your take?

You know, You have raised a very good question.
Yes, you are right, there is an increasin gap between young and olders, as genuine older population who can give so much to younger generation are not able to do so just for the fear of accusations.
But, mind it, at the same time, there are some who take the cover of helping young people and abuse them.
I think the main reason for this is the propaganda, coverage by media about all this unspeakable sins of a miniscule population. Nowadays every young person knows what pedophilia, what homosexuality is?
Say about 50 years ago how many youngones, for that matter older population know about this, very few. The reason it was not widely covered in those days as today.
I put the blame on the media and the coverage they give to these unspeakable deeds. Media should behave responsibly, but they do nt, they want sensation, and want to cash on it.
Giving a wide exposure to these kind of news items, in fact may instill or implant wrong ideas into the people who never had those kind of ideas.
I know some people may not agree with my opinion. BUT ,I FEEL ANY HEINOUS CRIMES, UNSPEAKABLE DEEDS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND RESPONSIBLE BE PUNISHED, BUT THEY SHOULD GET LEAST OR NO MEDIA COVERAGE, In a way you are glorifying it by covering it. At the same time young generation should be educated about these things and will definitely help in preventing this.

This is a problem ... but, remember things will get even worst while the world (without God) choose to dictate what is right and what is wrong.
... back when people's lives were killed by diseases, the lack of being forewarned (when a hurricane, tornado or any other weather conditions might be upon them), like we have now .. People died younger, so they married earlier, like in Louisiana, with parents permission you could marry at age 12.
But, with our older age comes with understanding and knowing what to do; but, for now we have lost our humanity. And being nice to each other, where others take it to be sexual .. when its not.
... Just because we have opened Pandora's box ... society has gone amuck, and there is no turning back until the Messiah returns.
Don't let others tell you HE is here or there, everyone will know when HE gets here, just like when there is a electrical storm show in our darken sky ... everyone sees it with there own eyes ... you'll know ... no one will have to tell you. This will be the only thing that will change our hearts to see good in others.

I do think that it's a shame that males (and with a few more female teacher scandals, women too) are very reluctant to hug a hurting kid due to accusations.
Sadly, the worst part is that once the accusation is made, the damage is done. Even if nothing happened, even if the person is later exhonorated, the bell cannot be unrung.

It is a shame. Once here on answers I answered a question from a young girl whose mothers boyfriend had told her she was an attractive young lady. And other answerer's were advising her to be careful and that any man of his age that said such a thing was dangerous. I answered that they all should be ashamed of themselves and thankfully she agreed with me and selected mine best answer. The culture is a sad one and I understand why it is this way but we are surely throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I don't think it's a witch hunt when I see what is going on Dateline or what I hear in the local news. However, people should be educated what pedophilia truly is. We all could benefit from learning from each other.

So do you find that stealing and taking advantage of the inocence of kids is ok? Why do you pedophiles are so eager to speed up a natural process, does it make you feel important? In control? God? Way to teach traumatic stuff to children, hope you all go to hell!!!

I have noticed this. It's unfortunate. It seems less appropriate for men to talk to children as they used to. Of course the great majority of us have no interest sexually with children. As we all know though, too many men do.
