For my last computer, I purchased a PCI NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 card. It has 256MB RAM and a GPU. Anyway, I just got a new computer with onboard NVIDIA Graphics Geforce 6150 series. In my display properties, it says I have 64MB dedicated memory and total memory 256MB. So..which one is better? and how much memory does my onboard graphics have?(256 or 64?)

Ummmmm, neither are very good. But, I have to say that the 6150 is most likely better than the FX5200 just because the FX series wasn't the best series of boards from nvidia. The Geforce 6150 IGP has 64MB of dedicated memory but it can take an additional 192MB from your RAM to get 256MB if it needs it. It will be allocated dynamically based on what you are doing.

Performance wise, as much as I detest integrated graphics, I have to say that the 6150 is better than the FX5200 but in my opinion both are ummm, both are... I can't say it nice so I'm just going to say it, both are junk. If at all possible (and assuming this is a desktop) get yourself at least a Geforce 7600GS or 7600GT.

Neither the 6150 nor the FX5200 are suited for any kind of heavy 3D graphics or gaming, which is what I do and I just have to call them both junk because neither would keep up with what I do.

It relies upon on which Intel it relatively is, and which nVidia it relatively is. as an occasion, x3000, x3100, x4500 will run video games reasoably nicely on structures with sufficient ram, oftentimes approximately equivalent to low grade nVidia playing cards. bear in techniques, although, that the later intel GMAs are PCIe, so as that they do have an ingredient over straightforward previous PCI.

IT is only as good as your Software controlling your Video Graphics!
