while White comedians essentially have to walk on eggshells in their routines.
Michael Richards aside (I don't think he was funny, and it was a pathetic insult as well), White comedians cannot touch the issue of race, while comedians like Dave Chappelle have free license to explore the humor of race.
Why do you think this is the case these days, and on a side note, how does Don Rickles make a living these days?

♥michele♥, I personally love to laugh, and I think Dave Chappelle is hilarious.
The issue isn't about wanting to hear jokes about blacks; it's about allowing a joke - any joke - that might get a laugh to be told. By asking if I need to hear jokes about blacks, it seems as if you're implying that Blacks should be protected from the humiliation of humor. Please don't tell me that's what you're seeking.

you and i both know that if a white person made similar remarks in a comedy or night club as you hear black coimics make al, jesse and the gang would have a coronary.

comedians are great social commentators. black comedians and white comedians are free to say what they say on stage.
the only problem is that for the most part, white comedians dont know how to make light of black actions without coming off as bigoted or racist. when blacks make fun of whites, the issue is usually not one that has other problems associated with it, some of which have nothing to do with the black people themselves.
ill give a bad example cosz im not being real clear. say a white comedian makes a joke about single moms. it could be funny. if its strictly about black single moms, you have to ask yourself where are the baby daddies. you have to look at things like arrest records, how the prosecution of black offenders vs white offenders for the same thing, how many of each were incarcerated and so on. invariably, youll find the justice system is skewed against black defendents.
or try looking at the opportunities those baby daddies had. as a suburbak white kid or urban black kid. did they get the same type of schooling. what were the matriculation rates at thier various schools. what quality teacher was at the school. what was the pay in that school district.
im not saying that black people dont have problems. im just saying that a lot of the time there are other circumstances that are present that are almost unique to them

Anyway, I don't know. I think we've gotten so politically correct in this country that we can't say anything without offending someone. I don't think racial humor is really all that funny whether it's black or white, anyway--but that's just me.

to relieve tension from all the crap we've been through. black people joke about themselves too. and there are white comedians who joke about people from other races. being happy and funny is one thing ~ being angry and hateful is another.
Do you want to make jokes, or hear jokes about black people or something? ~ I don't get it.
Just because a joke gets a laugh ~ doesn't make it right. Whether it's jokes about babies, rape, or any type of hatred ~ it doesn't make it right...

maybe its a slavery sympathy thingy. because they went thru so much, lets allow them to make these jokes. blacks also make jokes about blacks, which is ok. whites do it too, so why not?
