I've wondered in the past months why in America the Jewish community has been so strongly supporters of democrats when the democratic party has showed time and time again to be anti-israel. I'm not saying I think Jewish people should become Republicans for this single issue. But I have to wonder why such a vast majority of Jews support a party that is on the side of Palestinians who want to see the wiping out of Israel.

Is it a matter of not caring about Israel? Is it that the other opininions outweight this one? Are some just not aware of this? I just don't get it.

being a conservative Jew I can understand why.

First off most Democrats are very supportive of Israel. Such as Nancy Pelosi (believe it or not) while others such as Carter are not.

You also find Republicans who are also harsh against Israel.

In general Israel gets bipartisan support in congress.

It also you have to consider that many in the Republican party are avid Evangelical Christians and Jews such as my self are strong supporters of Seperation of Church and state.

While I am Conservaitve on domestic issues and do vote often for the Republicans I can see why others who are more liberal in social issues would not do so.

Will you accept an answer from a Jewish former Dem now Rep?

1) Most American Jews are extremely liberal on social issues.
2) IMHO, many are in denial about antisemitism & antizionism in the Dem party.
3) It's a tradition. The Jewish comunity has changed, The parties have changed, but voting patterns haven't. Humans are SO illogical.
