"Someone had to stand up for comics and freedom of speech has to rule the day," said Enss Mitchell, owner of Comedy Union. "No matter if you agree or disagree with what someone says, you have to allow them the opportunity to say it."

We all have right and we all are against something, right?

A comic has a right to say just about whatever he wants to but others have a right to complain.

I have a right to never go to a Mel Gibson movie ever again if I don't like what he said about the Jews.

I have a right to never buy a Dixie Chicks' album again if I object to their public critisism of Bush.

And I am not denying anyones rights by exercising mine!

But I heard about a lawsuit or settlement concerning "Kramer's" racist outburst. That would be denying his rights, IMO.

To me, as long as you don't hurt anyone else with your words, then it's ok. Many people hide behind the freedom of speech to tear others apart, and to me, it's a sad thing. Another sad thing, is that the people who dog others out, can't take it themselves when they're dogged out.

Freedom of speech is an American staple. It's one of our ideals. Of course, we're not allowed to slander or libel, which is where the rules get fuzzy.
