DSL, ISDN and T1 are examples of high speed phone line connections.
You cannot get high speed over a conventional phone line. You need to upgrade to a modern connection. Go with DSL.

Well DSL usually runs on regular phone landlines. There are limits to the distance you can be away from the company's hub though. Try giving SBC a call if they offer local phone service in your area. DSL requires a special modem which often is offered free by DSL providers. It is fairly high speed (Averaging about 1/3 of the speed of cable internet).

Wouldn't that be DSL?
It may not be possible at your location though - there are distance restrictions that must be met.
