I have a bf 4.5 month old. I have just started giving her solids. I had planned to wait until she was 6 mos. Any time she sees someone eat, she puts her hands to her mouth and tries to grab the food. I have been giving her rice cereal mixed with breast milk. Sometimes I add a little bit of banana. I feed her at lunch with us and at dinner with us. I do not plan on pushing up much more than that until she is 6 mos. Breast milk is the best thing for them to have... I'm sure you know that. When she is six mos. I will start her on a wider variety. I mostly wanted to let her eat because she was showing so much interest. The way I'm doing it, she is still getting mostly breast milk.

Ideally solids shouldn't be introduced until she's around 6 months old unless your doctor has advised it...it's hard for a baby to digest solids at that age....a couple teaspoons here and there probably wont wont, hurt, if you are trying to get her used to the idea. Just mix infant rice cereal with expressed breastmilk, so it's easier to digest. As far as the routine, I think it's best to go with the baby on that. Let her make her own schedule now and it will eventually become a routine. Good Luck

Gerber first foods like applesauce, bananas, carrots, sweet potato, squash, rice cereal, green beans to name a few.
If you' breastfeeding, you should go when your milk supply is at its lowest(in most women this is late in the afternoon or early in the evening). If on the other hand your baby seems hungriest in the morning, you might offer solids then.Don't worry if the menu is cereal and the serving time is 6pm;baby will hardly be expecting steak.Start with one meal per day, then move up to a morning and evening meal for the next month or so.

Well, solids are not really recommended at this stage. But what I did with my 2 kids, was to get them used to spoon-feeding at 4 months, by using an infant spoon to feed them milk. I do that at lunch, and start feeding them a little earlier before they get start getting hingry. And then by 5 months, I intro rice cereals mixed with breast milk, spoon-fed (some mothers mix the rice cereals into the milk and feed them via bottle! Never ever do that!!)
And then by 6 months, you can intro more chunky and less diluted solids and fruits like mashed bananas & scraped apple.

Your infant does no longer want any foodstuff for sustenance till round 12 months. its good to commence once you sense is the right time (you realize your infant, you'll understand at the same time as the time is nice) frequently between 4-6 months. continually make confident to nurse till your infant is finished earlier you grant solids and to in common words grant solids interior the first 25 min after nursing, or you need to dissatisfied your milk feeding agenda. you need to commence with nicely tolerated unmarried element meals which incorporates bananas, sweet potatoes, apple sauce, pears, peas, brown rice, eco-friendly beans and oatmeal. and continually wait a minimum of three days earlier introducing a sparkling foodstuff to study for allergic reactions. there is no reason the first foodstuff should be rice except that particularly a lot no individual is allergic to rice so there is little or no probability for an allergic reaction.

My daughter is six months, and still isn't a big fan of solids. I try to give her a few spoonfuls of cereal in the morning when she wakes up, and at night before she goes to bed. I always do it before she nurses to make sure she is good and hungery, otherwise she won't touch it. Her and my son sleep from 11 at night until 9 in the morning, and take a good 2 hour nap during the day. She nurses about every two hours during the day and once at night.

At 4.5 months, we started on rice cereal mixed with B milk. Most often we'd get 2-5 spoonfuls in and the rest on his face. We also added pureed ripe avacodo and bannana (at seproate meals) The fruits were diluted at the time of puree with b. milk or purified H20. They were then frozen in ice cube trays for storage. He would get one cube thawed for 25 seconds at breakfast time, usually 8:30-9am. We would rotate this with cereal. If you introduce a new food, you are supposed to give it to him every day for 3-4 days, to notice for allergic reactions) By 5 months, we were adding cereal to the food and by 5.5, he was getting a lunch serving too.

Nurse on cue when the baby is hungry.
No solids necessary (or recommended!) prior to around 6 mos of age.
