In "Gulliver's Travels," the Yahoo are a race of humans kept as pets by Houyhnhnm (a race of talking horses). Gulliver develops an instant dislike for the Yahoo because they are unreasoning brutes, while the Houyhnhnm are clever and beautiful.

Bit of trivia.....this was the first time the word yahoo was used! This is why people are sometimes called yahoos when being loud and obnoxious!!

This always reminded me of the basic plot from P. Boulle's "Planet of the Apes." Intelligent creatures and yahoo humans.
