Miss mjc - I don't know what you recall but please have your facts right when you come out to play with the boys. That year "Lil Archie" (Peyton) threw for 3800 yrs and 37 TD's.

There is a saying where I come from: "Come correct"

Being a UT fan I remember well. It wasn't too upsetting when Heath Shuler didn't win a few years earlier. He was a great athletic QB in college but he sucked in the NFL. However Peyton deserved to win the award. Some people thought that since he didn't beat Florida he didn't deserve it regardlessof his entire season's stats.

Troy Smith will win the Heisman tonight and won't even be a QB in the NFL. Perhaps only on trick plays but he'll probably end up being used as a WR of some kind.

We know who turned out to be the better of those 2 now.

The Heisman is just a popularity contest for whom the voters like among players at certain positions...it doesn't mean anything with respect to who is the best player, or will have the best career later on. The Heisman hype is (IMHO) pretty silly...draft order is a much better statement of who can play and who can't.

Hey Smitty! Yeah I remember when Woodson won it over Manning. I though it was really ridiculous as Manning clearly deserved to win it. By the way thanks for defending me regarding the Marciano boxing question posted earlier.

As I recall it wasn't stolen at all. Peyton fell apart that year and it went to Charles Woodson.

I don't remember but I'm sure Peyton isn't crying over spilt milk.
