Some spotting is very minimal to a straight blood flow. The color also ranges from gross brown (old Blood) to a bright fresh red blood. It also range in texture, some is runny and some looks like there is tissue also passing. If you are spotting they look at how many pads you are going through. If you are bleeding and filling a pad every hour go to the ER immediately. Some spotting is normal because it is a sign of attachment to the uterus. Also some small spotting can occur afte intercourse. When I miscarried in May mine started out to be a small amount of brown blood then if went to bright fresh blood then the tissue started passing. Call you doc or go to ER if you are concerned.
