Which countries were the first to put people into space?
Where did they go?
What planets have been visited by rovers or people up to the year 2003?

I'm pretty sure Russia was the first to have a Cosmonaut in orbit.
The US was the first to put a man on the Moon.
Probes have been sent to Venus and Mars (actually landing - or crashing) with space probes sent near every planet but (I think) Neptune and Pluto.
Rovers are kind of new and have only been to Mars.
The Voyager probes have also neared the actual edge of our solar system and are set to cross over into interstellar space soon.
There may be others, but that's all that comes to mind.

Hi Amy,
The Soviets put the first person in space. The Americans were the first to the moon.
No humans have visited another planet up to 2003 or even up to today in 2006.
The first successful Mars rover was called "Sojourner" and landed there on July 4, 1997.
Since then, Spirit (Jan 4, 04) and Opportunity (Jan 25, 04) have landed and conducted research.
The only other planet we have visited is Venus. Here is info on that:

The Soviet Union and the US.
They orbited Earth; the US put men on the moon.
Mars has been visited by rovers (machines).
No planet besides Earth has been visited by people. The only other body visited by people has been the moon.
All of these things were true in 2003 and are still true now.
We have sent things flying by other planets (Venus, Jupiter -- all the way out of the solar system).

Russians went into space and the Americans went to the moon.

I belive that russia was the first to put people up in space, but america was the first on the moon
