Here's everything you need to know if you want to get a U.S. passport: http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

Hope that helps!

If you live in the US ... you go to any main post office ... it will cost about $96.00 in US currency and take about 6 weeks to get after you fill out the paperwork.... I think you have to have a good reason to get it ASAP, not just because you didn't plan ahead, I think the cost is about $60.00 more.

You need to be very careful while traveling to Mexico ... go with a group, do not go alone.

They have applications for a passport at the post office. I was with my sister just the other day when she picked up three. The application is free. I think the chart said the passport it self was $60.00 That is in Michigan, I would think it is the same all over the US

To save time...What you need is to go to Kinko and get two passport photos($12). Download a form DS11 from www.travel.state.gov/passport fill it out, but don't sign it, you will need two form of identification, cc, cash or visa check card for fee...$97.00 normal processing time...add $60.00 more to expedite the passport. Go to the main post office, the earlier the better. You should call to see if they'll take appointment otherwise go early, it will be busy.
