I have heard that the PS3 doesn't play PS2 games and that it doesn't come with the extra memory the premium 360 does. My boyfriend wants both, but I can only afford one for Christmas. I need all the details to make an educated decision please!!!

At this point in time, the Xbox 360 is the better buy. It's been out for over a year, and has a large library of games. You will also be able to find one in stores easily (unlike the PS3), and it's cheaper to buy than the PS3. Microsoft has built an online system that nobody can match at this time, and it really makes the 360 shine.

The 360 doesn't come with any way of saving games (memory or hard drive) if you buy the core/cheaper model, so that's something to consider. If you get the other model, it has everything you need to get started (besides a game).

The PS3 just came out, and only has one or two good games, although this will obviously change in time. It's extremely expensive at a price tag between $500-600, although it does have a built in Blue Ray player for high quality dvd playback.

Just stuff to consider....

First of all, the PS3 just came out, so I'd guess that it has some bugs in it. Xbox 360 has been out for what I believe is a year, so by now it'll be less buggy. PS3 gives you games like Resistance: Fall of Man, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Fight NIght Round 3 and a few others (including Final Fantasy XII, I believe). The 360 has the same games (except for Resistance), but it has the best games on there: "Lord of the Rings: Battle of Middle Earth II", "Gears of War", "Call of Duty 2", "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "Greg the Bunny: the Game" (okay, that last one was fake.) The PS3 system is more of a DVD player/game system while the 360 is a full blown game system. Xbox Live Arcade is not as good as the PS3 Wi-Fi internet capabilities.
I, for one, would go for the 360. The PS3 just came out, so it's probably a little kinky (besides, there aren't any left for now). So, I'd suggest getting the premium 360 right now, and tell your boyfriend that the best thing to do is to wait this out until it's about $500, or at least a few hundred dollars less than the $600 price tag.
