I've heard on one hand that they can cause infection, and on the other hand I've heard that it is very unlikely as long as you wash them and shower. Can they cause infection or health problems, and if so how can this be prevented? What are the chances that a thong can create a health issue?

Tyra actually just had a show on it. Yes it can cause yeast infections if you wear them excessively. Hope that helps!

I suppose its how dry u are. Theoretically, if one were to have a heavy discharge day, the moisture *and sweat that may also occur* can create an easier passage for any bacteria from the anus to reach the vaginal opening. The thong lays pretty much right on top of your flesh, where as "granny panties" cover the entire area, not resting directly on the anal opening, where as with the thong its there all day all and it will move and shift.

Because of the bacteria, there *could* be an infection.

I wear thongs often, and have yet to have an infection that I could relate directly to them. But the above is what I've heard

if tyra banks had a show on it, it must be true. there you go, issue settled: thongs are the bacterial expressway from the anus to the vagina. thanks for ruining thongs for everyone tyra.

as long as you clean them and yourself, I think you're good to go... but aren't they uncomfortable?
