If life is a test, how could it have any type of reliability or validity? No two people are given the same lot and circumstances in life, so wouldn't that make the results of the tests incomparable and essentially meaningless? I guess life could be a good test if the each set of results was judged invidividually, but many seem to believe that the afterlife is a place where people are separated into large genealized groups, like those who go to heaven, hell, purgatory or move up or down the existential ladder. If life really is a test and peoples' results determine their post-death fate, like children's I.Q. scores may determine what class they are put in, wouldn't that mean that the testmaker has made serious methodological errors?

It is a learning experience.

Do you really think life is a test? I think life is a trial and each of us have our own trials and tribulations with which we must deal. It should be understood that each of us make our won way in life and directly affect what happens to us as individuals through the choices and decisions we make. At the beginning we are given a set of rules to follow which are universal rules set by God. These rules are in effect whether we believe it or not and if we violate any of these rules than what we think will happen will not and it will be changed due to the severity of the violation. For example, there is a definite rule for cause and effect. What we individually cause to happen by our actions will directly affect us either adversely or advantageously. Love begets love and hate begets hate. If I slap a person that person is more than likely going to slap me back. Action and reaction is in place. If I am nice to a person than that person will more than likely be nice to me. I think you get the picture. In case you may be wondering, our actions also determine our destination in the afterlife. I wrote a book which is now available on the difference between the spiritual world and the physical world. The book is entitled, "When You Die You'll Come Alive." It is available through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and Borders, Books and Music. You will get some insight into what I am saying if you read it.

You make it sound more like a competition. And, in my opinion, it's not. It's not really a 'test' either, in the conventional sense of the term.

I believe our individuality has a great affect on our 'afterlife'. The choices we make, what faith we have, our lifelong experiences and how we view ourselves are just the beginning of our 'afterlife' experience.

I also think that our tendency to socialize in groups also crosses over, which is why the ideology that we will group together in whatever 'post-death fate' we come to is so prevalent. We either believe it will happen because of our nature to do so, or it will happen because of that same nature. Few people see the afterlife as a solitary thing. Even those that are 'doomed to suffer' tend to do so in groups.

It is true. Life is a test at each and every step, every day. We face problems in life, everyday and we solve them. These problems are our tests. If we face these tests bravely and solve the problems, we win and move to the next test. This is life.

According to another theory, Life is a stage and we all play our assigned role and move ahead.

I have not thought of the concept "After death", because life has not given me enough time to think about that. I am busy in solving today's problems. we have enough work to do today in life, Then why waste time for debating on "After death".

If we do our best today with honesty, without harming anybody; I am sure, if there is something "After death", our place will be the best.

I believe there is some sort of an afterlife, but I don't think our life here is a test. We are here because we are here, not because we have to prove something. But even if it were, I would assume it would be a test for something that everyone is capable of doing well on, regardless of age, intellegence, personal circumstances, etc... I do believe the choices we make in this life will influence our afterlife, but not because we are being "graded". But that's just me.

I have quite a bit to say in response to this excellent question. First, life can be viewed as a sort of test, but it is an open book test that we give ourselves and that we each grade. It is not God that provides the test. It is the product of billions of decisions made by ourselves and others during (and before) our lives. In addition, it is not a proficiency exam or an I.Q. test. God wishes each of us to get an "A+" when it comes to loving each other, enjoying life and being kind at all times. We honor God when we act in imitation and adoration of these gifts that God has given us and we help ourselves because in this manner we are cleaning ourselves of any aspect of darkness that we are carry in our hearts.

It is said

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger what I ask is why
Must I be strong since death comes along
In other words what must I fight when I die?

I have been enduring hardships my entire life, and yes I am stronger, but what am I being prepared for? Why would you make a man stronger just so he can carry his strength to the grave where it rots with his flesh. I do not know what it is about. Perhaps this is some extended basic training for a major battle we must all face when we die.

I believe life is a series of events and experiences that determines which events and experiences we will be led to in our next life. Many lessons appear to us. Do we learn from them or will they be repeated later until we do learn? Each life could be corresponded to a grade in school. Each has its own set of lessons. Once we master something we move on to more challenging tasks. This is how mankind matures spiritually while mastering the steps and assisting others to do the same.

When you die, your body decays and you become dirt. It's also said in the Bible that dead people "return to the dust from which they were born." Thus, it doesn't matter if you die from a bullet or if you die at home in bed, you're still dead. Life doesn't determine your place after death, but it does determine how long you stay alive in the memories of people.
