I have had my ferret for over a year and we just got a kitten today. My ferret {female} wanted to play with my kitten {male} and the kitten about had a holy fit, started growling and hissing and then drawed out the claws and got the ferret across the face but she was not bleeding or nothing more or less was letting my ferret know "don't bother me" . My question is will they ever get along and if so how should I help the process and how long will it take? I do not want to get rid of either one but I have had my ferret way to long to get rid of her. Looking for answers and suggestions.

I've had a cat and ferrets. In my experience, the cat HATED the ferrets, but they had no fear of or dislike of the cat.

Because the cat is young, it can probably learn to tolerate or even befriend the ferrets - but you'll need to watch them very closely until you're sure they're OK alone together.

I was unable to ever get my cat (which was quite old when I got the ferrets) to actually LIKE the ferrets, but it did learn to tolerate them and simply avoided them as much as possible.

I've heard of ferrets sometimes becoming very violent with cats. My friend's ferret actually killed one of her kittens when it got out of its cage.

You should have really consulted a professional before getting the cat.

probably not. my suggestion is keep them separated, or get rid of the cat. ferrets are cooler than cats
