I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop but willing to spend less than $1000 on a laptop with a 15 inch screen or bigger---- And i'm willing to spend less then $1200 for a laptop with a smaller screen. I know i should probably customize it but I don't know much about that... what do others recommend?

And If you recommend customizing, what computer do u recommend I customize and with what should I customize it with?

in this price range i would suggest the HP dv6000t (you can customize it yourself on the HP homepage).
important! start customizing it with the important parts
1. graphics card
2. memory
3. operating system
4. hard disk
5. CD/DVD
...
...
last part: CPU !! so you can determine the final price you are willing to spend. all core (2) duo processors are good enough for playing games.

Well if I read that correctly and you said $1000 or less, then just stop right now, not gonna happen. For a gaming laptop, you should not even start looking until you have at least $1500 to spend. When you do, send me an email and I can help you out.
