Yes. I was stationed on a small island near Portugal and I had to work on Christmas day. My wife was a few thousand miles away.
It was suckitude complete and total.

I do get sad once or twice during the holidays. Both of my parents now walk the spirit world. My brother and sister live in a nearby town so we don't see each other as much as we would like to. When I feel badly like that I give myself 5 minutes and then get over it.

Oh yes, because we don't celebrate Christmas. Everyone is busy and talking about it for days. It gets annoying and disturbing. Although I'm a cheery, seasonal kind of person I feel uncomfortable with talking about a subject I can't relate to. That surely doesn't mean I despise Christmas, it's just that I don't celebrate it and I prefer that my friends don't talk about it so much. I feel weird, you know.

Yes. For many years, starting in childhood, the last five weeks of the year, starting with Thanksgiving, were torture for me. It's not a problem now.
