First he hated Othello, he is a snake in the grass. Second he set up both Othello and Desdemona for their ultimate destruction by playing on Othellos weakness (Physical seizures and Emotional - jealousy) and love for Desdemona. He plays on his wife to get the "Proof " he needs - she steals Desdemonas hankerchief in order to prove her love for him and have him love her.

G'day Smart Ionoa,

Thank you for your question.

Iago was the villain in the play Othello. He caused Othello to become jealous of his wife Desdemona and to kill her. Iago receives more lines in the play than Othello and than any non-title character in Shakespeare's works.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Seasons regards

I did a quick search on Google using the terms "Othello iago's character" and came up with the following page of links: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-44,GGLJ:en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=othello+iago%27s+character&spell=1. The first five of these look very rich in content and should be helpful to you.
