For example, Ashley, Brittany.

I have to admit I love Isabella even though it's become common.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Finally, someone else on here that thinks that too! I think that there are a lot of great names out there that are not strange that are not so totally over-used that there is going to be 5-6 in the same class when they go to school.

Yes, and I do love Isabella. But names like Ashley and Brittany and even Niki as a full name bug me.

Why?

Because when these kids become adults, they won't have the right names for anything but maybe being a tabloid covergirl (but not the good kind!) and just being considered a cutie.

Right??

Girls- Payton/Peyton - eh, it is k. Addison- now not a fan on the grounds that it rings a bell in my memory of Addison's disorder. Avery- I consider it is beautiful however I would not use it myself. Ainsley- I've by no means been a significant fan of this identify. Taylor- It's k, anything approximately it sounds caught up although. Ava-I LOVE Ava! I recognise that this can be a trendy identify however it is beautiful sufficient that I do not care. I'm severely due to the fact it. Madison- I honestly consider Madison is sort of a beautiful identify. Isabella- Overused, however lovely! Grace- Classic Sophia- It's k. I've by no means been a significant fan of Sophia. Probably on the grounds that it is the identify of my mother's cat. Boys- Jayden-hate it. I have no idea what it's. Jacob- LOVE it! I do not care how trendy it's. This identify is good-looking and undying to me. It's additionally my husband's identify, in order that makes me adore it much more. Liam- I consider it is a good-looking identify Nathaniel- Bleh. I knew person who sort of ruined the identify for me. Carter- Not a fan. Connor- Not a fan. Kai- On the correct child it will probably paintings. John- A conventional identify. I positioned it within the equal class as Samuel, Daniel, and so on. Personally I do not consider that naming your youngsters is the time to be uber ingenious. Kids ought to reside with their mum or dad's 'creativity' their complete lives. A lot of the names which can be trendy are trendy on the grounds that they are lovely or conventional names. Kids with bizarre names get teased, specially boys. My identify is Sara and I've consistently adored my identify. I by no means desired to be whatever else, even if there have been one million or two different Sara(h)'s in my elegance at college. I by no means felt any much less precise on the grounds that I wasn't the one Sara. My identify fits me and I fairly find it irresistible. I might a lot as an alternative have a sexy identify that used to be quite average than a 'ingenious' identify that used to be bizarre. I mainly attempt to preclude names within the best ten, but when they are within the best 50 or best one hundred I do not brain in any respect. I consider my women will develop up thankful that I did not deliver them bizarre names for the sake of being ingenious.

I don't really like the common names either, even though 2 of my children have common 1st names. But their middle names are unusual (they sounded better with the common name first). Like one of my sons name is Luis Abel, see it sounded better with the common name first instead of the other way around. And my daughter is Maria. But my other 2 children have unusual names, Jair and Efrain.

I definitely feel that way. I had to deal with the name Jessica during the height of the names popularity. :) What the name Jessica stood for in the past (early 1900's) actually makes me like the name, but sadly I grew up with a lot of snotty, bratty Jessica's and it made me dislike my name because I hated little girls like that. haha

I am torn on the issue.....

the thought of naming a child now makes me want the baby to have a unique name...

but growing up as the only Diana in your elementary school, I felt left out sometimes.

I agree. I took a test once that said I liked eccentric spelling of common names. My children are Nick(Nicklaus-as in the golfer, Jack Nicklaus), Corri(Corrine-said like Cor-inn), and Wyatt. These names are unusual enough the my kids feel like individuals in large classrooms.

I prefer the more traditional names. Names that have a special meaning or the name of someone special to you. My son's middle name is Llewellyn after his Great grandfather.
