why do a lot of American singers like singing in Ab or Eb?

I ve found by listening to a lot of the contemporary gospel R&B and soul, they like singing in those keys. Is it because it sounds nice, or it s easier for those songs?

i think it may be easier for them to do, not to mention that it does sound nice. not that many people can sing out of that key range.
