Paganism is something that, should you feel contentment with doing so, you can join. It would be awesome if you talked to someone who has been in the practice for a while. I have only two years, and I'm still learning stuff. I know two High Priestesses that I can talk to, but they are out in Virginia. There are different books you should read to begin your path.

Solitary Witch is highly recommended to start out with is you are going to be a solitary practitioner. I wouldn't join a coven simply because I operate better by myself. You might be interested in a coven, or you may not... That's your personal choice.

Anyone who tells you that Paganism or Wiccanism is the work of the "devil" or "satan" is blind and has been strayed from the path of truth. They are also not willing to better themselves with knowledge, only discrimination because of belief.

Hi there. While Wicca could certainly be categorized as Pagan, not all Pagans are Wiccan :)
There are a lot of yahoo groups out there that you could join to get information.
I'll also post some links for you. If you're looking for some good books on either subject, try Llewellyn Publications http://llewellyn.com
While you can be born into a pagan/wiccan family, most pagans and wiccans prefer their children be allowed the freedom to choose their own faith.
Many blessings to you on your spiritual walk!

Most forms of Paganism do not require you to be born into it. (There are a few groups, such as family traditions (FamTrads), that require you to be a member of the family by birth, marraige, or adoption (legal or casual).)

Paganism is a collection of religions, most of them based off of/inspired by pre-Christian European religions. As others have stated, Wicca is one branch of Paganism, and (counting its close cousins) probably the most common.

There's a number of books available, and a number of people willing to teach. Good rules for a beginner: 1) Keep an open mind - there's some things out there that can be a little odd. 2) Take everything with a grain of salt - some people are full of BS, even if they seem sincere. 3) Read a variety of sources - get a number of viewpoints, there's generally several. 4) Don't decide just yet - poke around to see what everything is about before you decide to commit to anything.

Paganism is the religion where the Goddess and God were worshipped. You can become Pagan quite easily. A good book to read is Maiden,Mother,Crone by D.J. Conway. And if you like books with some fiction in it then the best book to read is Mists of Avalon. It is under fiction but it holds true to the beliefs of the Pagans. If you have any specific questions then feel free to contact me. I am a Pagan and if I don't know the answer I will search until I find the answer for you.

Centrilius has it right. There are also quite a few Yahoo groups which you can join to learn more from the safety and anonymity of your computer. Just go to Yahoo, click on groups and do a search for Wicca. In this way, you can learn quite a bit without having to jump in feet first.

You might even get lucky and find one that is located close to you.

There are also quite a few different paths within Wicca and paganism, which you'll discover as you go along. This is an exciting time for you. Enjoy your search for truth and enlightment.

Blessed Be

You don't have to born into Wicca/Paganism.

I reccomend finding a couple books on the subject. All of the major bookstrores such as Barnes and Noble and Borders have tons of books on Wicca. http://www.wicca.com/ is a good website to go to.

You don't have to be part of a group or Coven. You can be solitary which means you work alone.

Alot of Pagan religions work with magic(k), but you don't have to be a magician to be a Pagan.

I hope this helped!!!

You don't have to be born into Paganism or Wicca, but it isn't as simple as 'joining the group'. You must research and study about them, particularly Wicca, if that is the religion you decide to follow. You have to be sure that it is what feels right before devoting yourself to any particular path.

people who declare to be a extreme Priest/Priestess yet instruments out to take income of others. The authors that don't do ANY form of study, purely writes approximately how terrible all of us else is and then makes up crap and calls it "authoritative". Fluffy Bunnies annoy me, yet not almost as lots because of the fact the Wiccans who declare no person may well be a "witch" until they pass by using a definite trad (custom for people who do not understand) and be formally taught by using them. Witches weren't "taught formally" in historical circumstances... they found out what became into ideal for them and surpassed it down by using relatives/acquaintances/and so on... there have been not any underground "witch faculties" back then, so this concept is genuinely ridiculous to me. Then there is the Racist communities interior of my own faith... those human beings burn me up. They use our non secular symbols and bits and products of lore they found out from ww2 and the nazi regime (which became into completely tousled to start with) and then attempt to declare they are doing what our gods choose *Sigh* i'm uncertain approximately any unmarried group that has helped all human beings the main, yet some have executed lots to hold Paganism oftentimes to easy. Covenant of the Goddess, Circle Sanctuary, The Troth, Asatru human beings assembly, The Pagan Federation (uk), Avalon Isle beginning place, Earth Religions criminal suggestions community... there are a number of communities that have helped us get out into the typical public, yet with all the previous propaganda that has been lingering throughout the time of those a while, i think it is going to take much greater human beings to get accessible. yet we do could cope with the assholes in our communities. in assessment to different religions who, while they have somebody giving them a bad call, they only pull the "they at the instant are not a real....." while we hit upon people who're giving us a bad call, we could decrease them off... publicly. purely asserting "he's not actual to our faith." does not do a element approximately how the typical public oftentimes perspectives us. they'll bear in mind the undesirable adult males speedier than the best ones.

Just look online for your local wiccan or pagan group. No you do not have to be born into it. I am Buddhist but my sister is Wiccan. Most states have an online site where you can get info about the closest local group or coven. Good Luck.
