the reason I can't turn the ringer off is due to my gmal lives across the street and she might fall or she'll need something and I've got have the phone on but I'd have a answering machine I could start using.
Good Idea of turning of the ringer of the cordless.
But hey why not let the roomie answer it next time.

I'm feeling you... it happens to me all the time ;)
most of the time I just don't answer it... and if I do answer the phone I get really mad when the person say "sorry, did I wake you up?" In such cases I like to be mean and make them feel guilty ;)
...stupid people doing phone calls before 9am!!!

I get woken also by the phone. It is usually those telemarketers. I know they need a job but, they should call later in the day. And I hate it when it is a recording of something they are trying to sell. I have a good one for those that are real people and want to sell me a new roof, windows or some kind of house repair. I own my house but, I let them rattle on and then ask if I have to get this worked approved by my landlord. I usually get the reply."oh, you are renting, I am sorry, have a good day. I keep getting calls stating they have found a bank that will consolidate my credit cards, Well, If it is a person, I ask them what credit cards are they speaking of. I don't have any. Don't like them.

You're not jinxed, just not thinking ahead. Unplug the cord, turn off the ringer, take it off the hook. Be proactive.

Turn off the ringer....
keep the cloaking device on until you get up...

No, not jinxed...but....ummmm...well, you could shut it off, at least the ringer, or just unplug it, till you wake up? Didn't you think of that?
