When I was 16 & a Jr. in H.S.;I broke my ankle during a JV football game.It was a schoolday afternoon.Emergency room determined that I had a spiral fracture of the tibia & said I would need surgery to "shorten it" & put in a thigh high cast.(It scared me when they said shorten it,cause I thought they were going to shorten my leg.)
I had to stay overnight & I was in a room for 2,but I was the only patient.After visiting hours, an intern -looking guy came in & said he was sent there by the office to do a Pre-Op. He closed the curtain around us.He had a clipboard & asked alot of ques. bout the injury.Then started to perform a physical.He did the usual BP;listened to chest,etc.Then he palpated my torso @ the time was in great shape.(couldn't pinch my abs)Then he removed my briefs.& put his finger up my groin & felt around my privates.He had me turn over.THEN came the anal/prostate exam.After he finished,he turned me over.I was erect,he had strange look of triumph.Was I abused?Hosp. SOP?

This happened 20 years ago.I would have never thought about it,cept for all the publicity 'bout child molesters.I
know NOW that this wasn't a real prostate exam,but just a way this jerk could penetrate me,I still remember smirk on his face.If he had opened his pants,then I would've known.He was there for almost an hour.He talked about my sports & made me relax.He complemented me on my muscles.He didn't seem nervous at all.He told me you can't wear anything but johnnie for surgery & was why he removed my briefs.
When he did the exam he had me get into a knee/chest position.What a view he must've had!He also palpated my genitals while kneading the prostate."To make sure all is working O.K."At the end,when he flipped me over,I was semi-erect & had moisture @ the tip which he wiped off w/a swab.He told me I was in great condition & all should go O.K. w/operation.
I also should have reacted in the morning,when a nurse came in to give a shot & seemed surprised that I had no shorts on

I don't understand why he had to check your genitals,
go inside your rectum to check your prostate. You say
you were 16 years old.
They start checking men for prostate problems at around
45 yrs. and above.
That sounds weird.

it does sound a little strange, although a prostate check and checking of the testicles is normal in a physical... but there is nothing abnormal about get an erection ... it does not mean you are gay!!!! if i were you, i would ask your doctor if that is a normal procedure before surgery!
