I have a friend that has a very beautiful "Wyland" bronze sculpture and needs to raise some money . She paid 3500 dollars several years ago . How would be the best way to have it appraised and sold . I really want to prevent her being taken advantage of . Thanks for your help .

the appraisal of that work will cost a percentage of what it is priced at unless the work is done by someone with a good heart and no need of the money a gallery that handles his work could give you a very good idea of what that piece is worth because bronzes are usually done in editions and numbered and have authenticity about how many were done. In the back page of ART NEWS is a small format ad section that gets great results once you know the price range. Start with a full retail price and be willing to dicker about it when you find a serious buyer...be sure to have the buyer pay shipping crating and insurance or include it in your price and use that as a bargaining chip. thanks from an artist who appreciates someone wanting to help a friend get a good price and therefore not be afraid to invest in art again in the future
