If you are not pregnant, other causes of missed periods include:

Excessive weight loss or gain. Although low body weight is a common cause of missed or irregular periods, obesity also can cause menstrual problems.

Eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia. (For more information, search for Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa)

Increased exercise. Missed periods are common in endurance athletes.

Extreme emotional stress.

Travel.

Medications, such as hormonal birth control methods, which may cause lighter, less frequent, more frequent, or skipped periods.

Hormonal abnormalities, which cause fluctuating levels of the hormones needed to support menstruation.
Illegal drug use.

Problems with the pelvic organs, such as imperforate hymen, polycystic ovary syndrome, or Asherman's syndrome.

Breast-feeding. Many women do not resume regular periods until they have completed breast-feeding.

Without more information it is hard to say. When a girl first gets her period, it may take a few years before her body ovulates regularly. If you are an adult and you have missed a period, it could be several causes, but IF YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT PREGNANT, you most likely did not ovuluate the last cycle. What would cause that? Some of the causes have been mentioned already, ie. lots of weight gain, or severe underweight. Stress is less likely a cause. The most common cause of anovulation is polycystic ovarian syndrome. The greatest majority of these women tend to be overweight due to insulin resistance and/or high androgen hormone levels. However, not all are overweight. Also, not all overweight women have ovulation problems. I would not be concerned very much about missing one period, unless there is a possiblilty of pregnancy. If it continues to be an issue I would recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist.

if you're two months late, I suggest you see your doctor...are you on a depoprevera shot or birth control? (that can make your period stop for several months).

Stress can make you late, but I've never heard of it being that late. You should see your doctor or go to the health department. You can never bee too careful with your health.

Stress and weight loss could cause this. Also, you may want to see your doctor to rule out any internal problems, like cysts or premature menopause (although this is a very rare condition). Best wishes to you.

Your period could have stopped because of stress; also, if you have a low percentage of body fat, your menstrual cycles may cease. In any case, a woman of child-bearing age who has quit menstruating needs to see a doctor, because that's a sign that SOMETHING isn't right.

People who are severely overweight and severly underweight commonly have this problem. Depending on you age, it could be the start of menopause. Call your doctor!

Could be stress. It could also be some underlying problem that you may not have any symptoms of. Better get to your Dr. for a check-up.
