My computer is newer, but really slow. I have deleted all the unnecessary programs and turned it off for a while, but none of that works. Could it be that my computer is 3 in line to get internet (We have 2 other computer in the same room, and mine is the 3 one connected)??

I am homeschooled, and this is the schools computer, not mine. But, I need to do something to make it go faster!

i agree that you may have viruses and spyware. get a free program from AVG (free.grisoft.com), and you can also download a free spyware program (i have spybot search and destroy).

is your computer taking a long time to start up? if it is then you can try this... go to start>>run>>type "msconfig.exe" in the box. go to the startup tab and see all the stuff that you don't need to start up. uncheck all the stuff that you don't want started up. click ok. you'll need to restart your computer after you start. this should let your're computer start up faster.

also if you have a lot of shortcuts on your desktop its best if you get rid of the ones you don't need. they tend to slow down the computer also.

Sounds more like you've got Trojans or spyware bogging it down. Go to Trend Micro & get a free online virus check called PCcillan. It will clear up & isolate most of these. Then reboot & see if it's not better.

Go to manage panel then Add or Remove Programs. Delete a host of crap you do not use (I deleted my four gig WoW recreation, and it speeded up my laptop A LOT!). Get a temp dossier deleter (dunno the technical title) and run that (I use cleanup). Run your spywares, as you probably did, and virus protecters. Delete historical documents you are not looking for (Like, say a couple of megs of historical graphics. Every megabyte counts!). Good success to you.
